We're back!

We had a wonderful time in SD. Life there is (in some ways) so different from life in Maryland. It's much more laid back, for one. Everyone is outside, enjoying life. And people drive FAST... real fast.

We were able to spend some of our time with friends and family from LA while we were there. We went to the beach in La Jolla one night and took some time to walk around Balboa park on Sunday afternoon. It was so nice to just relax a bit and enjoy the weather and the area. Elena even had a good time!

On Sunday we went to the Sovereign Grace church in San Diego: Grace Church. The pastor, Mark Lauterbach, was installed as Senior Pastor that day. It was so interesting to be there for that. Perhaps more interesting for me personally was the church itself. I honestly felt like I was walking right back into the church I was part of in Atlanta! Grace Church meets in an elementary school auditorium that heavily resembles the one that the Atlanta church meets in. It was a bit surreal, to be honest.

The people in the church were so kind and inviting. We were invited to attend a Care Group meeting that was held immediately following the Sunday service. The leader and his wife bought us lunch (fish tacos - mmm!) and made us feel so welcome! The entire Care Group took time to welcome us and treat us like family. Even when Elena was crying, they insisted that we let them help - several of them stepped in and took care of her while we chatted with others. It seemed like this was just something that they regularly did... they just shared life with each other.

Anyway, I could ramble for hours about our trip. We had a great time! Thanks to all who were praying for us.
