God's kindness and providence

Just a quick note to recount God's kindness and providence...

Last night at about 6pm, Christina ran upstairs screaming, "Where's Elena!? The front door's open!" For those of you who haven't visited our place yet, we live on a 4-lane boulevard - a busy one at that. Elena likes to escape, so we always keep the front door locked and bolted. But last night was different. We had just received a couch delivery and we didn't think to lock the deadbolt behind them. So, next thing we know, we're running around looking for Elena. I ran to the park, thinking that's the most likely place she would head (it's 50 yards form the house in the opposite direction from the street). Seeing that I had the park covered, Christina ran to the street. When I arrived at the street I found Christina crying and holding Elena. God had provided a kind person at the right time. Apparently Elena was headed straight for the street and this person caught her on the sidewalk before she could get into the street. There was enough time between catching her and Christina's appearance to walk a few houses up the street and back again... plenty of time for our precious little Elena to have been well into the busy street. We thought she was playing in Adelae's room...

God was kind to Elena and kind to us last night. It's a great reminder that no matter how hard we try to keep everything under our control, we're never outside of the need to trust God. His watchful eye is the only one capable of tracking that little escapee consistently, anyway. :-)
